Handcrafted by Jean-Frédéric Fesseler, DE, c. 2026.
Invitation of spontaneity. The Barcelona sketching pencil in Finnish birch — pale, flamed in grain, and lighter in the hand than the Grenadilla. The same 5.5mm replaceable graphite lead; the same form. Nickel-plated brass push device and tip. Each piece distinct in grain.
The act of writing is thinking made physical. The instrument held at that moment carries the thought before the words do. Jean-Frédéric Fesseler turns his by hand in a Berlin atelier he shares with his father, a furniture restorer and his first teacher. Each piece passes through more than a hundred steps and emerges singular, hand-turned from fine woods — Grenadilla, Finnish birch — fitted to precision mechanisms so that function and grain hold in accord. His signature lies in the finishing: drawing out the color and depth each wood has developed over the years.
