Lucie Rie: A Survey of Her Life and Work - Signed

The catalogue of the 1981 retrospective at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, recording the 241 pots in the show. It opens with a critical essay on her career, followed by recollections from Janet Leach, Victor Margrie, David Queensberry and others who knew her work. Photographed in full by David Cripps, the plates follow her pots from her early years to the pieces made as she approached her eightieth birthday. Rie trained under Michael Powolny in Vienna and, after moving to London in 1938, worked from a small studio at Albion Mews for fifty years. The book is the fullest record of that practice made in her lifetime.
