This wide-mouthed conical bowl features a radiant “Lumen” pattern—olive green droplets pulsing outward across a surface glazed in Dong Dan’s signature finish: a nuanced black that lies between matte and gloss. Its open silhouette accommodates a range of uses, from serving fruit or dessert to holding tea tools or personal objects.

Named for Xuan (玄), a classical Chinese term signifying the profound, the unknowable, and the darkly luminous, the piece reflects Dong Dan’s interest in quiet spatial tension and subtle contrasts. A practitioner of Jizhou kiln techniques and glaze experimentation, he reinterprets Song Dynasty traditions through pared-back silhouettes and visual rhythm.
